The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) entered a partnership with Mercury Drug in Cotabato City to enhance the delivery of the Ministry’s Bangsamoro Critical Assistance for Indigents in Response to Emergency Situations or the Bangsamoro CARES Program.
Through the partnership with the pharmacy, indigent patients can immediately receive the medicines they urgently need.
From to 19 May to 30 September 2021, MSSD has covered the cost of medicines of 1,880 patients with a total cost of PhP 12.8 million under the partnership with Mercury Drug. Almost 60% of these patients are residents of Cotabato City.
Patients requiring assistance for the purchase of medicines may go to MSSD’s office and submit the prescription, which must include the date of issuance of the prescription, complete name, PRC license number, and signature of the attending physician. The patient or his/her representative shall be interviewed and assessed by MSSD’s social worker. Once deemed qualified, a guaranty letter will be issued, which can then be brought to the pharmacy.
