MASIU, LANAO DEL SUR — The Ministry of Social Services and Development, in collaboration with the local government unit (LGU) of Masiu, hosted the 1st Sports Fest for beneficiaries of the Kalinga para sa may Kapansanan Program on July 27, 2023. The event saw the full participation of 150 persons with disabilities (PWDs) who showcased their skills and camaraderie in various sports activities.
Another highlight of the event was the information campaign on the rights and privileges of PWDs, presented by representatives from the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD). The attendees were encouraged to seek necessary support and assistance from the Ministry to further improve their living conditions.
The program was also organized in observance of the recently concluded 45th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week, aiming to celebrate the abilities and talents of PWDs while promoting inclusivity and empowerment.
Also present during the event were representatives from various stakeholders, including the Person Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), Office of the Mayor, Municipal Planning and Development Council (MPDC), Municipal Local Government Operations Office (MILGOO), Rural Health Unit (RHU), and Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC).
Through events like this, the MSSD-BARMM and its partner agencies continue to foster a more accessible and supportive community for all individuals, regardless of their abilities, reaffirming their commitment to creating a society where no one is left behind.
