MSSD formally launched its newest flagship program, Lingkod Pamayanan Para Sa Kapayapaan today, 20 January 2022, at the Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City.
The program selected community leaders mostly members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Women Auxiliary Brigade (BIWAB) and designated as para-social workers serving as support to MSSD’s municipal social welfare officers (MSWOs) in the delivery of disaster risk reduction and protection services.
Forty para-social workers took a vow, during the oath-taking ceremony, to perform their roles and functions with honesty, integrity and with moral governance towards achievement of peace and development in their communities.
Under the direct supervision of MSWOs, the Ministry aims to deploy a total of 1,145 volunteer para-social workers across the Bangsamoro region to improve the delivery of social services especially in the poor and disadvantaged communities.
Aside from disaster risk reduction and emergency activities, the para-social workers will also support the MSSD in the facilitation of psychosocial activities at the women and child-friendly spaces, community advocacies, home visit and monitoring of client status, pay-out and others.
The Lingkod Pamayanan Para Sa Kapayapaan Project is in partnership with BIWAB, United Youth of the Philippines-Women (UNYPhil-Women), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Bangsamoro Information Office (BIO).
