MALABANG, LANAO DEL SUR — Two hundred twenty-seven fisherfolks in Malabang, Lanao del Sur received relief assistance from the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) through its Lanao del Sur B Provincial Branch Office on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. Each of them received a grocery package and 25 kilos of rice.
The recipients were fisherfolks from the coastal barangays of the municipality such as Bunkhouse, Sambagarogong, Pasir, Tuboc, Madaya, and Tambara who are facing difficulties in their livelihoods due to the current global health crisis.
The Ministry of Trade, Investments, and Tourism (MTIT) and Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) also conducted an orientation on cooperative formation initiatives while the National Commission for Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) facilitated the profiling of the beneficiaries and provided them with cash assistance worth Php 200 each.
Moving forward, MSSD’s municipal social welfare office in Malabang will organize the beneficiaries to create a formal federation of fisherfolks. (Jidday Lucman, MSSD BARMM)
