LOOK: Eighty-four (84) Returning Filipinos from Sabah (REFS) also known as “halaw” arrived earlier this afternoon at the port of Bongao, Tawi-tawi.
Meanwhile, the first batch composed of 355 REFS also recently returned to the province last Tuesday, September 13, 2022.
The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) through its Tawi-tawi Provincial Office’s fieldworkers along with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and Philippine Marines welcomed and assissted the said REFS.
As part of health safety protocols, the REFS were transported to an isolation facility in Bongao upon their ships’ disembarkment to the said port.
During their isolation period, MSSD will be providing them their immediate needs such as welfare goods and meals.
MSSD will also conduct profiling and assessment of REFS to identify longer social interventions appropriate for them which includes provision of livelihood assisstance.
Upon completion of quarantine, they will be turned over to their respective local government units.
