TAWI-TAWI – In line with the 5th BARMM Founding Anniversary, the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), as one of the frontline agencies of the Bangsamoro Government and the chair of the Social Development Committee of the Bangsamoro Economic and Development Council, spearheaded the week-long celebration of the 5th BARMM Founding Anniversary in Tawi-Tawi from January 22 โ€“ 26, 2024.

As part of the celebration, personnel from various provincial field offices of BARMM ministries and agencies, along with municipal and barangay local government units, security sectors, civil society organizations, and development partners, participated in the motorcade in Bongao on January 22.

On the same day, the MSSD Tawi-Tawi Provincial Field Office, led by Provincial Social Welfare Officer Hadja Belinda Adil, RSW, MPA, facilitated the kick-off activity held at the MBHTE Gymnasium in Brgy. Tubig-Mampallam, Bongao.

MSSD distributed emergency go bags to partner local responders and barangay local government unit officials and hygiene kits to the victims of the recent incident in Bongao.

The simultaneous mass payout for the indigent elderly beneficiaries under the Social Pension (SocPen) Program for Indigent Senior Citizens and micro-entrepreneurs under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) across the province also commenced during the ceremonial program.

Various BARMM ministries and agencies also administered a series of ceremonial provisions of services during the kick-off program.

BARMM Chief Minister Ahod โ€œAl-Haj Muradโ€ B. Ebrahim also extended his greetings through a video message.

In her speech, MSSD Minister Atty. Raissa Jajurie recalled that the Bangsamoro Transition Authority is a product of a peace agreement that lasted for 17 years and ended more than 40 years of armed conflict. She expressed her gratitude for how the people of Tawi-Tawi exerted their full support during the Bangsamoro Organic Lawโ€™s (BOL) plebiscite on January 21, 2019, wherein 99% of the voting population in the province voted โ€œYes,โ€ signifying their vote of confidence in the creation of a new government entity for the Bangsamoro people.

Minister Jajurie also highlighted several milestones achieved during BARMMโ€™s transition period, particularly in peace and order, communal conflict resolutions, disaster risk reduction and management structure, emergency response, economic development through interventions in the areas of agriculture, fisheries, trade, tourism, and investments, partnership with local government units, infrastructure development, social services, health, and education.

โ€œAs we celebrate the BARMM Foundation Anniversary, we try to reach out to all the constituent units of the Bangsamoro Government. We hope to collaborate and work with the local government units not only at the provincial level but also at the municipal level. In the coming years, we will be working more together because of the upcoming devolution. We look forward to that journey as we strengthen municipal, provincial, and regional governments,โ€ Minister Jajurie added.

In the afternoon, MSSD Minister Jajurie signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Diagnostic Center and Multi-Specialty Clinics for the implementation of Bangsamoro Critical Assistance for Indigents in Response to Emergency Situations (B-CARES) Program. This partnership is in line with the expansion of MSSDโ€™s hospitalization and medical assistance to cater more indigent patients.

During the week-long celebration in the province, booths, help desks, and tents were set up inside the gymnasium by different offices such as MSSD, Office of the Chief Ministerโ€™s Ayudang Medikal mula sa Bangsamoro Government (AMBAG) Program and Tulong Alay sa Bangsamorong Nangangailangan (TABANG) Project, Ministry of Basic Higher and Technical Education (MSSD), Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Labor and Employment (MOLE), Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE), Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism (MTIT), Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD), Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) Bangsamoro Womenโ€™s Commission (BWC), Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission (BHRC), Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), and Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), 2nd Marine Brigade, Philippine Red Cross, and Ambuh โ€“ Inah Inc.
