Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi- The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), in partnership with the Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU) of Sitangkai and the Landbank of the Philippines Bongao Branch, distributed cash cards on 4 November 2023 to 686 senior citizens who are beneficiaries of Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT).

The distribution was conducted for indigent beneficiaries residing in the four barangays of Datu Putih with 145 beneficiaries, Poblacion with 158, Panglima Alari with 313, and Imam Sapie with 70 beneficiaries. This initiative aims to provide UCT beneficiaries with easy access, monitoring, and withdrawal of their cash grant amounting to Php 5, 600. 00, a one shot cash grant, which is directly deposited into their cash cards.

Prior to the distribution, the documents of all UCT beneficiaries underwent validation and assessment by designated social workers and Landbank personnel. Cash card enrollment forms and other identification papers were meticulously reviewed to ensure the accuracy of the information and prevent misspelled or incorrect data.

Sitangkai mayor Tiblan C. Ahaja expressed full support for the programs of MSSD and assured that the project implementation in his municipality is a success.

The UCT Program is a nationally-funded tax reform mitigation program that is being managed by (MSSD) in the Bangsamoro Region. The grants for the UCT beneficiaries do not go through MSSD but are deposited directly to the LBP accounts of the beneficiaries.
