Datu Blah Sinsuat (DBS), MAGUINDANAO DEL NORTE — The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) kicks off the observance of 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 across the Bangsamoro region on November 07, 2023, with the theme, “Isulong kalinga, kalusugan at karapatan ng Batang Bangsamoro!”
In partnership with the Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children (RSCWC) and the Regional Juvenile Justice Welfare Committee (RJJWC), the Ministry brought the celebration to the grassroots level with the ceremonial distribution of birth certificates to indigent children, who were provided with various gifts from several ministries and offices.
The school supplies from MSSD consist of a bag, tumbler, umbrella, notebook crayons, pencil, pen, scissors, colored paper, drawing book, coloring book, eraser, and sharpener. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) and Bangsamoro Women’s Commission (BWC) provided prizes for the children’s games and meals, respectively.
A total of 100 indigent children received school supplies, meals, prizes, and birth certificates out of 337 free registered births in this municipality.
Parlor games such as the sack race, trip to Jerusalem, straw planting, longest line, and stop dance entertained children and adults alike.
In her address, MSSD minister Raissa Jajurie emphasized that one of the Ministry’s mandates is ensuring that the rights of every Bangsamoro child are realized. “The Bangsamoro Government, led by MSSD as the chairperson of the RSCWC and RJJWC, prepared a series of activities for indigenous children, orphans, daycare children, PWD children, and other vulnerable children to ensure that their rights to survival, development, protection, and participation is guaranteed and safeguarded,” Jajurie said.
To continue the promotion of the welfare of children in Bangsamoro, the Ministry will continue a series of outreach programs to celebrate Children’s Month in the following days for the island provinces.
The activity was also attended by MSSD director general Mohammad Muktadir Estrella, UNHCR protective associate Meriam Faith Palma, UNICEF Education Specialist Roger Masapol, BYC commissioner Nasserudin Dunding, and representatives of Bangsamoro Information Office (BIO), Philippine Information Agency Region 12 (PIA12), Philippine National Police (PNP), 25th Marine Company MBLT 5, Local Government of Datu Blah, MSSD-Maguindanao Provincial Office (MSSD-MPO), Municipal Social Worker Officers (MSWO), and Para-social Workers.
