COTABATO CITY โ The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) recently conducted an initiative aimed at enhancing the quality of life for indigent and vulnerable persons with disability (PWDs) in the province of Maguindanao del Norte.
The program involved the distribution of assistive devices to 27 identified PWDs, complemented by a comprehensive medical mission conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MOH).
On August 29, 2023, several assistive devices were provided to the PWD attendees to address their unique needs. These included 20 wheelchairs, 3 crutches, 3 folding canes, and 1 quadcane. Through the MSSD’s Older Persons and Persons with Disability Welfare Program (OPPWDWP), qualified PWDs benefit from these assistive devices, enhancing their mobility and overall comfort, thus significantly improving their daily lives.
In addition to the provision of assistive devices, the beneficiaries also availed of the free medical consultations, vaccinations, and medicines, courtesy of MOH.
The provincial government of Maguindanao del Norte extended further support by providing grocery items to the beneficiaries.
This collaborative effort is one of the initiatives of the Bangsamoro Government geared towards promoting social welfare and empowering communities, especially the elderly and PWD members of the society.
