MASIU, LANAO DEL SUR — The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), with the support of the municipal local government unit (MLGU) here, brought together 63 young learners on July 24, 2023, to commemorate this year’s Nutrition Month.
During the program, the children, along with their parents and guardians, received an orientation on various topics related to the observance, focusing on the theme “Healthy Diet Gawing Affordable for All!”
On the first lecture, the rural health unit (RHU) emphasized the importance of proper nutrition for children’s development. A representative from the Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education (MBHTE) also delivered a lecture on the significance of backyard gardening and encouraged parents to establish their own gardens. Additionally, the municipal social welfare officer of Masiu discussed how the MSSD-BARMM’s various programs contribute to promoting child development, particularly in ensuring food security and nutrition for the children.
The children also performed intermission numbers to showcase their talents during the activity.
The event was attended by representatives from the LGU, barangay health workers, child development workers, nutrition scholars, parasocial workers, and other line agencies.
