COTABATO CITY โ On May 11, 2023, the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) welcomed six (6) repatriates from Sudan as they arrived at Awang Airport in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.
Upon their arrival, the repatriates received P10,000 worth of emergency cash assistance from the Ministry’s Bangsamoro Critical Assistance for Indigents in Response to Emergency Situations (B-CARES) Program. This financial aid is intended to support their transportation needs and basic necessities.
Previously, the first batch of Bangsamoro repatriates from Sudan, comprising Islamic scholars and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), arrived on May 09, 2023, at the international airports of Zamboanga City, Davao City, and General Santos City. They received the same assistance prior to their return to their respective places of origin.
These individuals were compelled to seek repatriation due to the ongoing military conflict in Sudan.
