SULTAN KUDARAT, MAGUINDANAO DEL NORTE โThe Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) gathered women from different barangays of this municipality for a Women’s Forum on April 05, 2023 at the municipal gymnasium.
The event, led by Womenโ Welfare Program focal Faida Ensanah, provided essential services such as an orientation on the Safe Spaces Act (Bawal Bastos Law), the Juvenile Act of 2006, and Gender and Development (GAD) as well as the provision of care packages. A total of 150 women received these services, including solo parents, returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), and women volunteers.
One of the highlights of the event was the discussion of the importance of GAD and the orientation on the Building Alliances of Bangsamoro Actions towards Women’s Empowerment (BABAE). The event also saw the participation of the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD), who gave brief input on their responsibilities in addressing issues on violence against women and children (VAWC).
On the first quarter of 2023, the Ministry has conducted a series of activities aimed at promoting the welfare of women in the Bangsamoro region. These activities included visitations to women deprived of liberty, distribution of maternity kits to pregnant women, health seminars, and other initiatives focused on empowering women in the community.
