TAWI-TAWI โ The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) recently conducted an assessment and validation of beneficiaries under the Unlad Pamilyang Bangsamoro Program in this province. The objective of the activity was to determine which businesses were eligible for scale-up to help beneficiaries achieve self-sufficiency.
During the assessment, 323 eligible beneficiaries were identified from the municipalities of Simunul, South Ubian, Tandubas, and Panglima Sugala. Most of them are engaged in seaweed farming, which is currently in high demand, while the rest are involved in farming, fishing, and selling goods.
The scale-up phase of the program aims to augment the business capital of beneficiaries who were able to maintain their businesses or source of livelihood with the help of the P15,000-business capital they initially received in the first phase. The ultimate goal of the assistance given to these case-managed beneficiaries is to help them move from survival to subsistence and from subsistence to self-sufficiency.
The Unlad Pamilyang Bangsamoro Program is one of the flagship programs of the Ministry. It provides holistic social intervention to case-managed households belonging to the most indigent and vulnerable sectors. The program offers a set of social interventions such as livelihood assistance, monthly rice subsidy, medical assistance during emergencies, and educational assistance to eligible college students in the family, following a thorough assessment by the field social workers.
