DATU MONTAWAL, MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR โ The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) conducted a relief distribution on March 27, 2023 for the 430 internally displaced persons (IDPs) currently taking shelter at Matalam Farm Settlement Elementary School in Barangay Dungguan.
To address their immediate needs, each family was provided with family food pack comprised of 25 kilogram-rice, canned goods, and instant coffee.
The IDPs fled from their homes due to an exchange of gunfire caused by a family feud in Barangay Kilangan, Pagalungan on March 2, and the ongoing armed conflict between government forces and a BIFF/ISIS-inspired group in the tri-boundary of Pagalungan, Pikit, and Datu Montawal.
The Ministry will extend the same relief goods in the coming days to all of the affected families who were displaced in other areas due to the ongoing conflict.
