COTABATO CITY โ The Ministry of Social Services and Development’s (MSSD) Financial Assistance System Transformation (FAST) team attended an alignment meeting last March 16, 2023 and an inception workshop on March 23, 2023 with several non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for the implementation of their project called “Strengthening Resilience through Early Warning System, Enhanced Anticipatory Actions and Multi-Risk Landscape Approach in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao” or SUPREME BARMM.
The project, supported by the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (ECHO), aims to reduce the vulnerability, and improve the disaster preparedness and resilience of at-risk communities in BARMM. MSSD, together with several NGOs such as Oxfam Pilipinas, Humanity and Inclusion (HI), People’s Disaster Risk Reduction Network (PDRRN), CO Multiversity (COM), Manila Observatory (MO), CARE Philippines, Action Against Hunger (AAH), ACCORD, and Plan International, will implement this initiative.
Representatives from MSSD’s Monitoring and Evaluation Section and MSSD-Special Geographic Area (SGA) Office also participated in the meetings.
The inception workshop served as a venue to discuss project strategies, activities, and workplan. The two-year project will focus on strengthening anticipatory and humanitarian actions informed with a wider landscape risk reduction approach in BARMM. The collaboration between MSSD and NGOs is expected to make a positive impact on the disaster resilience of the region’s at-risk communities.
