Barangay Batulawan, SGA โ As part of the Women’s Month Celebration, 288 women from 24 barangays under the Pikit and Aleosan clusters gathered on March 19, 2023, for the Women’s Summit: Women of Bangsamoro Gearing towards Women’s Empowerment. The event aimed to educate, empower, and unite the women of Bangsamoro towards achieving their rights and strengthening their roles in society.
The participants received a briefing and overview on Building Alliances for Bangsamoro Actions Towards Womenโs Empowerment (BABAE) โ a new initiative of the Ministry that aims to help the participants build an active organization which caters to womenโs concerns such as livelihood and support services for survivors of domestic violence, legal assistance, and healthcare services.
In her message to the participants, Minister Jajurie stated, “For this yearโs women’s month, we are launching the BABAE to encourage each of you to organize and actively participate in activities in your respective barangays. We believe that the womenโs strength should be celebrated every day and each woman in the society should be empowered to assert their rights”.
The women were also engaged in various activities, including an orientation on RA 11313 or Safe Spaces Act discussed by Regional Womenโs Welfare Focal Faida Ensanah and talent showcase, which included singing, dancing, and other cultural performances.
The event showed the women’s determination to support each other and work towards progress. Through the BABAE initiative, the Bangsamoro women can continue to organize activities and advocate for their rights, contributing to the development of their communities and the region.
At the end of the program, each of the participants was provided with personal care package and souvenirs.
Also present during the event were MSSD-SGA Area Coordinator Haron D. Amer, designated MSSD social workers, parasocial workers, and social work interns.
