COTABATO CITY โ The Social Development Committee (SDCom), chaired by the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), marked the fourth day of a week-long celebration for Bangsamoro Foundation Day with a series of activities held on January 24, 2023, at Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex of Bangsamoro Government Center.
The event, which was attended by students from various high school institutions in Cotabato City, featured a quiz bowl on the initial part of the program, wherein the students competed for the top prize amounting to PhP 10,000, courtesy of MBHTE Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal.
The Ministry also facilitated a short talk show segment, wherein Minister Iqbal and Bangsamoro Womenโs Commission Chairperson Hadja Bainon G. Karon answered the questions of youth leaders from various organizations in Maguindanao and Cotabato City. Their discussion covered the history of BARMM, its accomplishments, the importance of the peace process, role of women in the Bangsamoro government, and principle of moral governance.
The last part of the program includes the hand-over of PhP 21 million cheque for MSSDโs partner pharmacy; the distribution of subsidies for 11 AMBaG (Ayudang Medikal mula sa Bangsamoro Government) partner hospitals; turnover of 2 land ambulance, Tulong Medical Assistance of MP Sahie Udjah to Cotabato Regional and Medical Center, and barangay health workersโ cash incentives; ceremonial distribution of honorarium for daycare workers; ceremonial distribution of free birth certificates for IP children; turn-over of scholarship grants to qualified beneficiaries; and awarding of winners of sports competitions.
In addition to the said activities, an ongoing display of SDComโs cultural booth featuring the province of Tawi-Tawi was also installed beside the Office of the Chief Ministerโs building. The booth exhibits traditional costumes, handicrafts, tourist spots, and other cultural items, providing visitors with an opportunity to learn more about Tawi-Tawiโs culture, history, and tourism.
The series of activities on this day is a testament to the government’s commitment in the promotion of social development and education in the region as well as preservation of the rich cultural heritage of the Bangsamoro. MSSD and other members of Social Development Committee are committed to continuing their efforts to improve the lives of the people in the region and to make the Bangsamoro a model of socio-cultural and educational excellence.
