DATU BLAH SINSUAT, MAGUINDANAO โ To sustain the interventions and recovery efforts for the STS Paeng victims in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) and its partner agencies launched the Early Recovery Plan during the inter-agency convergence activity here on 26 December 2022.
Under this, the Ministry will continue to support the BARMM government in addressing the needs of the typhoon-affected families through providing them with emergency shelters, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), and other forms of assistance necessary.
During the event, MSSD started the distribution of multi-purpose cash assistance and Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA) to the survivors. In partnership with Al-Amanah Islamic Bank of the Philippines, the identified beneficiaries were also assisted in opening their own bank account.
As highlight, MSSD Minister Raissa H. Jajurie and MPW Minister Eduard U. Guerra led the ceremonial groundbreaking for the construction of temporary evacuation facilities here for the internally displaced persons (IDPs), who are still staying in schools and other evacuation sites.
MSSD, as the vice chair for the response under Bangsamoro Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and member of the Early Recovery Cluster headed by Bangsamoro READi “will continue to contribute in the risk reduction through its Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and emergency assistance programs such as Cash for Work and Ligtas Pamilya” said Hasim Guiamil, MSSD’s Chief of Disaster Response Management Division.
A total of four (4) water pumps were also handed over to concerned local government units (LGUs), which will be installed in the evacuation sites and affected areas with lack of water supply.
Meanwhile, Minister Jajurie also participated in the tree planting activity led by Minister Akmad A. Brahim of Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy (MENRE) and groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of five (5) 2-storey barangay halls courtesy of Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG).
Also present during the activity were BARMM Senior Minister Abdulraof A. Macacua, Bangsamoro Civil Defense regional director Hamid Bayao, Mindanao Humanitarian Team led by Melindi Malang of UN OCHA, and representatives from Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD), Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA), Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), MLGU and BLGUs of Datu Blah Sinsuat, CFSI, MOSEP, and Plan International.
