GANASSI, LANAO DEL SUR — MSSD visited and provided welfare goods to eight ( 8 ) families residing at barangays Pantaon Proper, Panggawalupa, Para-aba, and Taliogon of this municipality on 20 October 2022.
Upon assessment, it was found that the children of these families are affected by severe acute malnutrition (SAM) and moderate acute malnutrition (MAM). Some of the women here were also identified as at-risk mothers.
The said barangays are among the Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA), wherein the residents do not have an easy and direct access to government services. To address this problem, in May 2020, the Department of Health released the Administrative Order No. 2020-0023, which provided the guidelines on identifying the GIDA. The primary purpose if this order is to strengthen the health systems in these areas, wherein the inhabitants are composed of low-income families, indigenous peoples (IPs), and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
The beneficiaries also received assistance from the BangUN Project of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
