MARAWI CITY โ Following the dispatch of the several truckloads of rice assistance bound for Lanao del Sur last month, the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) in collaboration with the Provincial Local Government through its Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office and BARMM Marawi Rehabilitation Program (MRP) Steering Committee are still continuing the house-to-house distribution of the sacks of rice to the most vulnerable and indigent sectors today, October 1, 2021 in the Barangays Emi Punud, Rorog Proper, and Bangko of Marawi City.
Each indigent family received 25 kilos of rice. Among the recipients were senior citizens, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), solo-parents, orphans, Islamic scholars, Imams or leaders of masjids, Bilals or caretakers of masjids, and Persons With Disability (PWDs) who were assessed and identified to belong in the most disadvantaged sectors.
โWe make sure that all families are served with broad-gauge effort,โ said Mariam Balindong, Lanao del Surโs Provincial Social Welfare Officer.
This intervention is a continued response for the granular lockdowns enforced executed by the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.
Since the start of the distribution on September 24, as of today, a total of 18, 718 beneficiaries have already received the said assistance in Marawi City wherein 990 from Biabadamag, 1,500 from Basak Malutlut, 358 from Mipantao Gadungan, 50 from Gadongan Shelter, 2,155 from Papandayan Caniogan, 200 from Cormatan, 2,100 from Matampay, 450 from Timbalangan, 250 from Tongan-tongan, 437 from Bubong Cadayonan, 290 from Caloocan West, 140 from Dulay West Shelter (Hadiya Permanent Shelter), 330 from Malimono, 350 from Toros, 350 from Poona Marantao, 1,645 from Boganga, 240 from Pantaon, 2,200 from Sagonsongan, 660 from Patani, 350 from Pugaan, 920 FROM Sugod, 298 from Olowa Ambolong Shelter, 650 Emi Punud, 650 from Rorog Proper, 975 from Guimba, and 180 from Bangko which are all residents of Marawi Cityโs Least Affected Areas (LAA) that have COVID-19 cases.
The distribution will continue in the LAAโs remaining eight (8) barangays and is set to be completed by October 3.
The Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) and barangay local government units provided logistical support and manpower during the validation and house-to-house distribution.
Balindong expressed her gratefulness to the BARMM government for its continued support to the Marawi residents. โAlhamdulillah. We have seen the utmost thrive of the Bangsamoro Government in providing a meaningful and empowering support to its people. Our region is challenged with the occurrence of the pandemic and their assistance is of extensive help to the public,โ she added.
She also acknowledged the importance of the collaborative efforts of the BARMM government, Provincial Government, and MSSD in delivering services to the Bangsamoro people.
