On this 𝗘𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸, the Ministry of Social Services (MSSD) pays tribute to our senior citizens and their role in the development of our society and in nation-building.
Our celebration this year is centered on the word “𝙈𝙖𝙝𝘼𝙡𝙖𝙜𝙖” which primarily means importance. From this word, we can also derive other terms such as “𝙈𝙖𝙝𝙖𝙡” or love and “𝘼𝙡𝙖𝙜𝙖” or care.
From these words formed, we must give importance, love, and care to our senior citizens and their vital role in making the Bangsamoro region and the country as a whole more productive and secure for every family.
Without them, we won’t be able to enjoy the things that we have today, such as freedom, democracy, and the society that we live in. Those are the fruits of their love and sacrifices and we owe it all to them.
Thus, MSSD recognizes the high importance of the protection of the wellbeing of the senior citizens specially those who belong to the most vulnerable sectors in this time of pandemic.
MSSD ensures to address the welfare of the indigent senior citizens across the Bangsamoro region through its various social protection programs and services such as financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries through the Social Pension (SocPen) Program, assistive devices through the Older Persons and Persons With Disability (OPPWD) Program, and free hospitalization and medicine assistance through the Bangsamoro Critical Assistance for Indigents in Response to Emergency Situations (B-CARES) Program.
Our senior citizens are important. They deserve to be protected and loved.
