(3 November 2021 | Mamasapano, Maguindanao) Today, the MSSD Maguindanao Provincial Office distributed food packs for 551 families from Mamasapano and Shariff Saydona Mustapha in Maguindano who were displaced by the recent armed conflict in the area.
448 families were displaced from Barangay Dabenayan in Mamasapano.
103 displaced families from Barangay East Libutan in Shariff Saydona Mustapha, along with 81 families from Dabenayan, are now staying at the Libutan Elementary School, which is now serving as an evacuation center. The rest sought refuge with their relatives.
On 31 October 2021, residents from Barangays Dabenayan and East Libutan had to leave their homes due to the mortar shelling conducted by the military following the attacks of armed groups allegedly linked with ISIS.
On 1 November 2021, MSSD workers immediately conducted a rapid needs assessment to check on the conditions of the internally displaced persons (IDPs).
MSSD provided 10 kg of rice, 10 cans of sardines, 10 packs of instant noodles, 1 pack of choco powder (290 grams), 1 pack of coffee (100 grams), 1 kg of salt, 1 pack of biscuits, 12 packs of misua, 1 pouch of cooking oil (100 ml), and 1 kg of brown sugar.
MSSD worked with the barangay and municipal LGUs, members of the Bangsamoro Women’s Auxiliary Brigade (BIWAB), and the IDP leaders for today’s relief distribution.
MSSD has been providing critical protection and life-saving support for forcibly displaced families amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
