South Upi, MAGUINDANAO — The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) kicks off observance of 𝟮𝟵𝘁𝗵 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 across the Bangsamoro region today, 03 November 2021, with the theme, “𝙉𝙚𝙬 𝙉𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙡 𝙣𝙖 𝙒𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙄𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙣: 𝙆𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙣 𝙣𝙜 𝘽𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙩 𝘽𝙖𝙩𝙖 𝘼𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙠𝙖𝙣!”

In partnership with the Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children (RSCWC) and Regional Juvenile Justice Welfare Committee (RJJWC), the Ministry brought the celebration to the grassroots level where more than a hundred T’duray children joined the launching activity and provided with various assistance from several Ministries and offices.

The children received transportation allowance and toys from MSSD, RSCWC and RJJWC; hygiene kits from the Ministry of Health (MOH); school supplies from the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MOLE); nutritious meal from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR); slippers from the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Office of Atty. Raissa H. Jajurie; and advocacy materials from BARMM National Nutrition Council (NNC).

Activities such as story telling, magic show, bubble show, and balloon twisting as well as mascots show entertained children and adults alike.

In her speech, MSSD Minister Atty. Raissa H. Jajurie, emphasized the roles of the government as duty bearers in the protection and promotion of children’s rights in the Bangsamoro autonomous region.

The Minister added that aside from the social protection programs for the indigent children, MSSD will also provide community outreach programs for orphaned and displaced children in line with the celebration.

Under Republic Act 10661, the National Children’s Month aims to instil awareness to all Filipinos in giving significance in the promotion and protection of children’s rights and welfare.

This year’s celebration centers on myriad issues of children’s rights to survival, development, protection, and participation in the new normal setting and seeks to ensure that no child will be left behind amidst the global health crisis.

Also graced the activity were representatives of Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs (MIPA), Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA), Philippine National Police (PNP), Local Government of South Upi, and child development workers (CDWs).
