03 February 2022/Cotabato City – To continue the assistance of the Bangsamoro Government to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Marawi, the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) turns-over one water truck to the Marawi Rehabilitation Program (MRP) today.

Through its Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) project, MSSD provided the water truck for IDPs in the Marawi transitory shelters that lack access to clean and potable water.

“Isa sa mga problema ng ating mga IDPs sa Marawi ay ang kakulangan ng tubig lalo na ang potable water. Suporta po natin ito sa kanila upang may malinis na tubig silang maiinom,” said MSSD Minister, Atty. Raissa H. Jajurie.

The PhP 4.9 million-water truck has a holding capacity of 8000 liters and can cater up to 150 households every trip.

MSSD and MRP have inked a memorandum of agreement for the daily operation of the water truck.

MSSD has been providing support to the Marawi IDPs, from desludging of septic tanks and water rationing activities, since September of last year.

This year, MSSD will start the rehabilitation and repair of existing water systems in the transitory shelters as well as construction of permanent water systems and toilets.

Aside from Minister Jajurie, present during the turn-over ceremony are MRP Steering Committee members, Deputy Chief Minister Ali Solaiman and Bangsamoro Youth Commissioner Marjanie Macasalong, Cabinet Secretary Asnin Pendatun, and representatives of other Members of the Parliament.
