COTABATO CITY โ A total of three (3) water stations were provided to selected locations in barangays Tamontaka V and Poblacion VIII on June 30, 2022. Each station has a 2 cubic- meter water tank, which is rationed among the beneficiaries.
This is under the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Program of Disaster Response and Management Division.
In Barangay Tamontaka V, a total of 150 flood-affected families from puroks 3, 4, and 5 will benefit from the two (2) water stations, which are situated at Purok 6 and near Diocolano Elementary School. This one (1) month-water ration is provided to the beneficiaries while MSSD is still looking for a sustainable solution to the water supply problem of this flood-prone barangay.
In Barangay Poblacion VIII, the beneficiaries are the internally displaced persons (IDPs), about 20 families affected by election-related conflict from Limbo, Sultan Kudarat. MSSD provided them with one (1) water station, which is located at Madrasah Al-Najah in Purok Mangungaya.
The provision of water stations is necessary to ensure that the affected residents have access to a safe water source, which they can use for hygiene purposes.
