ZAMBOANGA CITY โ To enhance their skills in managing or handling Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cases, a total of 30 social workers from Tawi-Tawi and Basilan are currently attending a 3-day training at Ever ‘O Hotel here.
During the first day of training on 02 August 2022, the participants were given an overview of the purpose of the training. The following day, 03 August 2022, they were given a review on the basics of GBV and they were introduced to the theoretical foundation of a survivor-centered approach along with the guiding principles, roles, and responsibilities of the assigned social worker. They were also reminded about the importance of communication skills in handling GBV cases.
Today, they will learn about the necessary steps involved in Gender-Based Violence Case Management (GBV CM) โ introduction and engagement, assessment, case action planning, implementation, follow-up, and case closure.
On the last day of training, 05 August 2022, the topics on GBV CM response to intimate partner violence (IPV) for women and girls through mediation; communication with child survivor; supervision and staff; and GBV Information Management System (GBV IMS) will be discussed.
The resource persons of the lectures and workshops are Ms. Faida Ensanah โ Women’s Welfare Program (WWP) focal, and Ms. Aira Tose of Community and Family Services International (CFSI).
