MADALUM, LANAO DEL SUR — Following the firefight between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the ISIS-inspired Dawlah Islamia last August which took place in the provincial boundaries of Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte and resulted to the displacement of hundreds of families, the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) conducted a relief operation in Madalum, Lanao del Sur on September 9, 2021.
Three hundred beneficiaries received 25 kilos of rice and grocery package each. All those recipients belong to the indigent and vulnerable sectors who were mostly farmers, solo-parents, and senior citizens upon validation of the MSSD field social workers.
The affected families are residents of the eight (8) barangays of Madalum, Lanao del Sur such as Bacayawan, Tamporong, Tongantongan, Cabasaran, Raya, Riray, Punud, and Udangan which are considered Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA).
Municipal Social Welfare Officer Hadja Jamelah Oma of MSSD Madalum ensured that there are constant follow-up visits and assessments for the affected families so that they can avail other needed social interventions and services from the ministry.
Identified individuals who qualified for the eligibility requirements of MSSD’s social protection programs will avail educational assistance for the students and financial assistance for Persons With Disability (PWDs).
“We have other interventions for them through the regular and national programs. They were included in the feeding program. Some were also included in the Kalinga Para Sa May Kapansanan Program and Angat Bangsamoro: Kabataan Tungo sa Karunungan Program,” said MSWO Oma. (Jidday Lucman/MSSD BARMM)
