LANAO DEL SUR – The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) through its Lanao del Sur A Provincial Field Office recently distributed food supplies to 405 child development centers (CDCs) in the municipalities of Balindong, Bubong, Buadiposo Buntong, Ditsaan Ramain, Marantao, Maguing, Masiu, Mulondo, Piagapo, Poona Bayabao, Saguiran, Taraka, Tamparan, Tugaya, Lumba Bayabao, and Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, from February 19โ23, 2024.
Of the total number of daycare centers that received food supplies, 57 were in Marawi City, 43 in Taraka, 26 in Balindong, 26 in Saguiran, 25 in Poona Bayabao, 24 in Masiu, 23 in Mulondo, 23 in Marantao, 22 in Buadiposo Buntong, 21 in Tugaya, 20 in Lumba Bayabao, 20 in Tamparan, 20 in Ditsaan Ramain, 19 in Bubong, 18 in Maguing, and 18 in Piagapo.
The food supplies consisted of 25 kilograms of special milled rice, eggs, dried anchovies, sayote, potato, mung beans, corned tuna, hotcake mix, champorado mix, brown sugar, dried noodles, glutinous rice flour, all-purpose flour, and cooking oil.
According to Adelaida Mohammad Ali, Provincial Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of MSSD Lanao del Sur A, a total of 9,136 daycare learners will benefit from the 304 sets of goods to be served as hot meals for 40 days.
Jalaleah M. Jamaloddin, a child development worker (CDW) in Brgy. Sawer, Masiu, Lanao del Sur, expressed her gratitude to the Ministry: “We, the childcare workers (CDWs) and the parents, are very happy because the meals to be served for the daycare children during the feeding program are nutritious, which will help them become healthier.”
Prior to the distribution, MSSD social workers inspected the quality and quantity of goods delivered to ensure their compliance with program standards.
Moving forward, MSSD will continue the distribution of food supplies to the remaining municipalities in the following days and closely monitor the implementation of the feeding program in the partner daycare centers.
This initiative is part of the 13th cycle implementation of the Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP), a nationally funded program supervised by MSSD in BARMM, which aims to address the nutrition needs of children enrolled in CDCs and supervised neighborhood plays (SNPs), especially those residing in disadvantaged areas.
