MSSD Minister Atty. Raissa H. Jajurie joined the 120 para-social workers from Tawi-Tawi during the closing of the three-day training for community-based para-social workers.
On 10-12 June 2022, the 120 para-social workers from the 11 island municipalities of Tawi-Tawi, underwent a capacity building program to increase their capacities on disaster risk reduction and management, gender and development, early warning and early response, psycho-social first aid, basic monitoring, and needs assessment.
MSSD conducted the training for the community-based para-social workers in partnership with the UNFPA Philippines and the Nonviolent Peaceforce.
Under the 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗸𝗼𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗞𝗮𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺, the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) is working with community-based para-social workers to strengthen the delivery of the Ministry’s social protection services by mobilizing local resources, and maximizing the community’s capacities and knowledge.
The para-social workers are working under the direct supervision of the Municipal Social Welfare Officers (MSWOs) of MSSD.
A total of 1,145 volunteer para-social workers have been deployed across the Bangsamoro region.
