TAWI-TAWI โ The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) through the Tawi-Tawi Provincial Social Welfare Office, provided comprehensive assistance, including food packs and transportation, to 157 returning Filipinos from Sabah (ReFS) under the Humanitarian Assistance and Transfer for Individuals in Distress (HATID) Program on January 16, 2024, at Bongao seaport, this province.
Five of the returnees are currently in the custody of the MSSD-Tawi-Tawi office while their families are traced. They have received mental health and psychosocial first aid and are staying in the provincial government’s isolation center for temporary shelter.
The MSSD will closely monitor the arrival of the second batch of the returnees to provide necessary assistance and services they need and safely return home to their families.
The HATID Program aims to provide emergency assistance to ReFS, stranded individuals, returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), locally stranded individuals, victims of violence, and vulnerable groups by prioritizing their safety, relocating them, facilitating their transfers, reuniting them with their families, and offering social welfare support.
