LANGUYAN, TAWI-TAWI โ Through the Provincial Branch Office in Tawi-Tawi, the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) continued the transport and house-to-house delivery of assistive devices bound for the different municipalities across the island earlier today, 25 October 2021.
As to date, the distribution of the assistive devices to indigent recipients which include persons with disability (PWDs) and senior citizens in the municipalities of Languyan, Sitangkai, Tandubas, South Ubian, Sapa-Sapa, Sibutu, Simunul, Sitangkai, Panglima Sugala, and Bongao are ongoing.
The distribution of assistive devices will also continue in the municipalities of Mapun and Turtle Island in the days to come.
The ministry targets to transport a total of 264 assistive devices for eligible case-managed beneficiaries in Tawi-tawi.
These assistive devices consist of wheelchairs, quad canes or walkers, crutches, canes, and folding canes.
All recipients were case-managed by MSSD field social workers and will be provided with the appropriate assistive devices based on their individual medical conditions.
This social intervention is under the Older Persons and Persons with Disability (OPPWD) Program of MSSD which mainly caters the needs of the indigent aforementioned clients.
Aside from assistive devices, indigent PWDs and senior citizens can also avail medical assistance from the ministry through the Bangsamoro Critical Assistance for Indigents in Response to Emergency Situations (B-CARES).
