The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) facilitated the safe return of 14 victim-survivors of human trafficking to Cebu City.
On April 5-6, 2023, the 14 victim-survivors, aged 26-29, were received, assessed, and validated by social workers at the provincial office of the MSSD in Sulu.
Accompanied by MSSD social workers and PNP-Special Action Force (SAF) personnel, they arrived at Cebu City on April 10 via ferry. Representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-VII, the local government unit (LGU), and the Philippine National Police (PNP) were present to receive them. A case conference was also conducted, during which MSSD provided all the details of the cases of the 14 victim-survivors, while DSWD-VII, LGU, and PNP presented the interventions they will provide for them.
To ensure their safe arrival at their individual residences, MSSD provided the 14 victim-survivors with welfare goods and transportation assistance.
The Ministry expresses its commitment to collaborate closely with concerned line agencies to rescue and provide interventions for the remaining trafficked persons who are yet to be rescued.
