HADJI PANGLIMA TAHIL, SULU — The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), through the Social Pension (SocPen) Program, disbursed financial assistance to 551 indigent senior citizens in this area on September 8-10, 2023. Each beneficiary received P3,000, covering the first 6 months of this year.
The social workers also conducted house-to-house distribution of the assistance to reach the bedridden and vulnerable senior citizens in the municipality.
This effort was in coordination with the municipal local government unit (MLGU) of Hadji Panglima Tahil, designated parasocial workers, child development workers, and volunteers.
The Social Pension Program for Indigent Senior Citizens (SPISC), also known as the SocPen Program, is a nationally funded intervention that provides P500-monthly assistance to eligible indigent senior citizens in the country, offering additional support for their basic needs.
