MIDSAYAP, SPECIAL GEOGRAPHIC AREA โ MSSD, through its Recovery and Reintegration Program for Trafficked Persons (RRPTP), conducted a 2-day training on 23-24 November 2022 to capacitate the 28 para-social workers here in spreading the awareness on schemes of human trafficking, online sexual abuse and exploitation (OSAEC), and illegal recruitment of children.
As part of National Childrenโs Month celebration, the para-social workers were also taught how to use the online platforms to combat these problems, especially that at least 2 million children in the Philippines were subjected to online sexual abuse and exploitation in the year 2021. Moreover, 96% of 12 to 17-year-old youth in the Philippines have online presence and they all face the risk of online sexual abuse and exploitation (Disrupting Harm in the Philippines, 2022).
A series of psychosocial activities were also conducted to uplift the mental health of the participants.
