Earlier today, November 8, 2021, the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) through its Sulu Provincial Branch Office provided relief assistance to 111 indigent solo-parents from the 11 barangays of Indanan, Sulu.
Each beneficiary received 25 kilos of rice and some groceries.
The recipients were from the barangays of Poblacion, Panabuan, Jati Tunggal, Tubig Parang, Karawan, Kuppong, Langpas, Lambayong, Katian, Budtaran, and Sawaki.
Meanwhile, on November 5, 2021, ninety-eight indigent solo-parents received the similar assistance from the barangays of Pasil, Sapah Malaum, Kandang Tukay, Paligue, Manggis, Panglima Misuari, Manilop, and Kabbon Maas of Indanan.
MSSD Sulu also conducted an orientation on Republic Act 8972 or Solo Parentsโ Welfare Act of 2000 which stipulates the benefits and privileges of solo parents and their children to the recipients.
The distribution will continue in the other barangays of the municipality in the days to come.
During the distribution, all the beneficiaries were assessed if they are qualified for other social protection programs of MSSD like the Bangsamoro Sagip Kabuhayan (BSK) Program, a livelihood program for small business owners and the Angat Bangsamorong Kabataan tungo sa Karunungan (ABK), an educational assistance program for indigent children.
