The release of cash cards for 10,337 beneficiaries of the Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) Program in Tawi-Tawi.
The first batch of 240 beneficiaries from the Municipality of Sapa-Sapa received their cash cards from the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) on 6 November 2021.
The UCT provides cash grants to poor households and individuals who may not benefit from the lower income tax rates under the TRAIN Law, but may be adversely affected by rising prices.
The UCT Program is a nationally-funded tax reform mitigation program that is being managed by the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) in the Bangsamoro Region. The grants for the UCT beneficiaries are deposited directly to the LBP accounts of the beneficiaries, and do not go through MSSD anymore.
UCT Beneficiaries are (1) Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) households; (2) beneficiaries of the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens Program; and (3) other households in the database of the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) or Listahanan, provided that they fall within the first to seventh deciles, ranked according to predicted income.
