Ninety-six indigent youth beneficiaries individually received PhP7,310 after completing their month-long internship in the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) yesterday, 05 November 2021, at Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex, Bangsamoro Government Center.
During their internship period, they were assigned to different divisions and units of the Ministry to acquire technical skills and knowledge in both administrative and operations aspects.
Interns were also able to have first-hand experience in assisting walk-in clients and serving during relief operations.
In her speech, MSSD Minister Atty. Raissa H. Jajurie made mention of the two (2) most important things that the interns were able to gain such as leadership skills and exposure in government service since the majority of them were taking courses related to social work and public affairs.
This social intervention is called the Government Internship Program (GIP) which was lodged under the Children and Youth Welfare Program (CYWP) of the Ministry.
GIP aims to provide career opportunities to the indigent youth that will lead them to become responsible and productive citizens of the country. Through learning life skills in the workplace and introducing them to public service they will be able to contribute to nation-building.
