A total of 670 workers from the informal sector who were beneficiaries of the Cash-for-Work (CFW) Program received subsidies worth Php 2,750 each from the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) during simultaneous payouts across the BARMM Special Geographic Area on September 14, 2023.
Each recipient rendered ten (10) days of community service, which involved tasks such as gardening, reinforcing flood-prone areas, and constructing Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) facilities.
The CFW Program extended its aid to 300 beneficiaries from Pikit A Cluster, 170 from Pikit B Cluster, and 200 from Midsayap, primarily consisting of fisherfolk and farmers.
The CFW Program is one of the social interventions of the Ministry with the aim of enhancing the well-being of displaced, disadvantaged, and distressed individuals within the community. This initiative follows a development-oriented approach, providing short-term employment opportunities that engage participants in community-building projects and activities within their local areas or evacuation centers.
Recipients of the CFW Program receive financial assistance in return for their contributions to these community projects. This support helps them meet their essential needs, including food and other necessities, while simultaneously contributing to community development.
Looking ahead, payouts for CFW beneficiaries in other clusters of the BARMM Special Geographic Area are scheduled to take place.
