Cotabato City – The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) recently distributed financial assistance to 546 indigent Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) from the 19 barangays of Cotabato City. The beneficiaries each received PhP 6,000 under the Kalinga para sa may Kapansanan Program, a part of the Older Persons and Persons with Disability Welfare Program (OPPWDWP). The distribution took place on June 14-15, 2023, at the city’s local government office. This subsidy will cover their monthly needs for an entire year.
Shariffah Agar, the Planning Officer of the Office of the City Social Welfare and Development Officer (OCSWDO), shared that the payout will continue on June 29-30 and July 4 to ensure that the remaining 1,691 eligible beneficiaries from the other barangays receive their financial support.
To date, the city has identified a total of 2,237 validated indigent PWDs who are entitled to benefit from the Kalinga para sa may Kapansanan Program. This program aims to address the needs of indigent PWDs in the community by providing them with financial assistance for their well-being.
The OCSWDO reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting the Ministry in implementing various social protection programs throughout the city.
