𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟯,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘆-𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗼 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗮𝗶𝗱

DAVAO REGION – The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), in collaboration with the offices of Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Members of Parliament (MP), distributed relief goods to 3,852 Bangsamoro families affected by a series of flooding and landslides in Davao Region. The distribution took place in various Bangsamoro communities in Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao del Norte, and Davao de Oro from February 16 to 20, 2024.

Each family received 25 kilograms of rice and food packs consisting of canned goods and instant coffee.

Among the recipients, 1552 Bangsamoro families were from the municipalities of Davao Oriental, wherein 529 were from Tarragona, 455 from Lupon, 408 from Mati, and 160 from Banay-Banay.

In Davao del Norte, 538 families received relief assistance, wherein 225 were from Tagum, 147 from Carmen, and 116 were from Braulio E. Dujali.

In Maco, Davao de Oro, a total of 100 Bangsamoro families received humanitarian aid.

There were 1,662 families in Davao City, Davao del Sur also received similar assistance.

Prior to the distribution, MSSD, along with the offices of MP Eddie Alih, MP Atty. Mary Ann Arnado, MP Jaffar Apollo Matalam, MP Mosber Alauddin, MP Hussein Muñoz, and MP Dr. Kadil Jojo Sinolinding Jr., coordinated with Davao Region provincial and municipal local government units and line agencies such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (DRRMCs) hosting the said Bangsamoro communities.

Alimmudin Casimero, a 54-year-old resident of Don Enrique Lopez, Mati City, Davao Oriental, and one of the beneficiaries, expressed his gratitude: “On behalf of the community of Masjid Al-Hidaya, we are grateful because despite our distant location, the Bangsamoro Government’s assistance reached us through MSSD and BTA. Thank you so much, BARMM.”

This relief response is in accordance with Article VI, Section 12 of the Republic Act 11054, or the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), which urges the Bangsamoro Government to provide assistance to Bangsamoro people residing in communities outside BARMM to enhance their economic, social, and cultural development.
