TAWI-TAWI โ The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), through its provincial office here, welcomed 160 returning Filipinos from Sabah (REFS) who arrived at the port of Bongao on April 25, 2023.
The Ministry provided the REFS with cash and food assistance upon their arrival. They are currently undergoing isolation in a temporary shelter in Bongao as part of health and safety protocols.
In addition to the immediate assistance, MSSD fieldworkers also conducted profiling and assessment of the REFS for potential future social interventions. This is to alleviate some of the challenges that the returning Filipinos from Sabah may face during their transition back to their communities.
