The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) welcomed the first batch of repatriated Bangsamoros from Sudan earlier today at the international airports of Zamboanga City, Davao City, and General Santos City. The repatriates had to evacuate from Sudan due to the ongoing military conflict.

Through the Ministry’s Bangsamoro Critical Assistance for Indigents in Response to Emergency Situations (B-CARES) Program, a total of 49 repatriates, including scholars and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), were given P10,000 worth of cash assistance upon their arrival at the airports.

“Based on our latest data, a total of 106 Bangsamoro repatriates are expected to arrive in BARMM in the coming days. Aside from the cash assistance, the MSSD-BARMM social workers have conducted assessments and profiling of these individuals to determine the other interventions they need”, said Bai Fatty S. Accoy, B-CARES focal person.

Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – NCR has initially provided P5,000 each to the repatriates upon their arrival to Manila.

The MSSD-BARMM, together with other concerned agencies, is committed to providing support and assistance to the repatriated Bangsamoros as they reintegrate into their communities and recover from their ordeal in Sudan.
