BONGAO, TAWI-TAWI – The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) through its Tawi-tawi Provincial Office welcomed seventy-eight (78) Returning Filipinos from Sabah (REFS) who arrived at the port of Bongao, Tawi-tawi on September 27, 2022. The said REFS were from Sabah, Malaysia and decided to return to their hometowns in Tawi-tawi.
Each family received food assistance from MSSD.
The REFS have undergone isolation in Bongao upon disembarkation from the ship as part of health and safety protocols.
The Red Cross Philippines, the Marine Battalion Landing Team 12 (MBLT 12), and the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) also provided logistical and transport support for the turn-over of REFS to their respective local government units after the completion of their quarantine period.
For future longer social interventions, MSSD fieldworkers also conducted profiling and assessment of the REFS.
