As an aftermath of the destruction caused by Severe Tropical Storm Paeng last year, which devastated homes and various infrastructures, including children’s learning centers, the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) conducted inspections of typhoon-affected Day Care Centers (CDC) in Northern Kabuntalan, Maguindanao del Norte, and Guindulungan, Maguindanao del Sur on September 19, 2023.

Engr. Yusoph Pilas, MSSD’s Engineering Section personnel, explained that MSSD aims to inspect 108 CDCs across the two (2) Maguindanao provinces by September 29, 2023.

MSSD is set to inspect other damaged CDCs in several Maguindanao del Sur municipalities, including Radjah Buayan, Datu Anggal Midtimbang, Ampatuan, South Upi, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Datu Salibo, Datu Montawal, and in Maguindanao del Norte municipalities, namely Parang, Matanog, Sultan Mastura, Sultan Kudarat, and Upi.

“In Shaa Allah, following the inspections and assessments, MSSD will proceed with repairing and rehabilitating all the damaged CDCs in both provinces through the contingency fund provided by the Bangsamoro Government’s Office of the Chief Minister,” Pilas elaborated.

“We hope to complete the repair and rehabilitation of these learning centers by the first quarter of the coming year,” he added.

This social intervention endeavors to provide daycare learners in the Bangsamoro Region with a safe and standardized learning environment, where they can enhance their foundational character and skills.
