Earlier today, September 7, 2023, personnel from the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) actively took part in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED). This event was held at the regional office’s premises within the Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City.
In accordance with NDRRMC’s Memorandum 006, issued this year, the quarterly execution of NSED serves the purpose of assessing and enhancing the awareness and preparedness of government workforce in the event of an earthquake.
Following the drill, MSSD personnel engaged in post-simulation processing and feedback sessions to discuss the crucial measures to be undertaken during an actual earthquake.
The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s Rapid Emergency Assistance for Disaster Incidence (READI) and other Bangsamoro Government offices also actively participated in this synchronized drill.
“In addition to the quarterly NSED, MSSD has already organized similar drills for para-social workers as part of their onboarding training. This ensures that they can effectively convey their knowledge to the communities where they will be deployed,” Racmah Abdula, MSSD’s Chief of Disaster Response Management Division stated.
