Malabang, LANAO DEL SUR — In celebration of the 44th National Disability, Prevention, and Rehabilitation (NDPR) week, MSSD kicked-off a ceremony here on 18 July 2022. Participants include persons with disabilities (PWDs), officers of Persons with Disabilities Affair Office (PDAO), and federation presidents of PWDs from 20 municipalities of Lanao.
A discussion of Republic Act 7277 or Magna Carta for Disabled Persons was also conducted to inform the PWD participants about their rights and privileges. Selected PWDs also gave their testimonials about their experiences as beneficiaries of MSSD’s Older Persons and Persons with Disabilities Welfare Program (OPPWDWP).
At the end of the program, the PWD participants received welfare goods and some of them received assistive devices. There was also a payout conducted to identified beneficiaries of Kalinga sa may Kapansanan Program.
The Ministry is currently conducting similar activities to other BARMM provinces to empower the PWDs by promoting and protecting their rights and privileges, and building their capacities.
