COTABATO CITY โ In observance of #WorldChildrensDay today, 20 November 2022, the Ministry of Social Services and Development joined the first #GoBlueCampaign of UNICEF in BARMM.
The Bangsamoro government center’s main building was illuminated with blue lights in commemoration of World Children’s Day, with the theme โSigaw ng Kabataan: Walang Iwananโ. This was after a series of performances from youth representatives of different groups.
Together with the Bangsamoro government and its partner agencies, MSSD reaffirms its commitment to protecting children from violence and ensuring their right to live in a peaceful world as stated in the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).
โThe protection of the childrenโs rights is enshrined in our legal framework and policies. This is because every child has the right to a meaningful childhood.โ emphasized by MSSD Minister Atty. Raissa H. Jajurie.
During the event, MSSD provided loot bags containing fruits and sweets, school supply kits, and fancy eyeglasses to the children who attended the event. Meanwhile, BYC also gave them free candies and notebooks.
The #GoBlueCampaign, a UNICEF-initiated effort, seeks to encourage the creation of a safer and healthier environment for children. It is geared towards giving better future for every child and amplifying the voices of young people.
โThe children donโt have to ask for their rights โ they have it. It is the responsibility of the adults and the government to make it happen. Every child has the right to claim their right.โ added by Radoslaw Rzehak, UNICEF Chief of Mindanao Field Office.
The same event was also conducted simultaneously in other parts of the world to commemorate the day when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959 and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) in 1989.
This is also in partnership with Bangsamoro Youth Commission, ChildFund, CFSI, Plan International, Save the Children, and Cotabato City local government unit.
Present during the event were MSSD Minister Atty. Raissa H. Jajurie, UNICEF Chief of Mindanao Field Office Radoslaw Rzehak, BYC Chairperson Marjanie Mimbantas Macasalong, Cotabato City Administrator Atty. Aelan B. Arumpac, BYC Commissioner Nasserudin Dunding, and other representatives from partner organizations.
