As one of the frontliners of the Bangsamoro regional government, the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) joins other government and non-government partners in the 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held at Datu Blah T. Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte on 09 November 2023.
Prior to the sound of the siren, a short meeting took place at the Incident Command Post (ICP) where MSSD reaffirmed its commitment to disaster preparedness. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of being prepared for earthquakes and tsunamis by following the duck, cover, and hold and evacuation protocols.
The MSSD Regional Office supports the establishment of Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) structures, such as the organizing of a Camp Management Committee at the LGU level, organizing of Camp Management Teams to be deployed in different evacuation centers, and putting a premium on the participation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) by organizing Camp Management IDP Support Teams in every evacuation center.
The NSED has been conducted quarterly since 2009 aiming to engage the participation of both the government and the private sector, fostering a culture of disaster preparedness among the population.
