PANGLIMA SUGALA, TAWI-TAWI โ The Ministry of Social Services and Development extended support to the LGU here during the Buntis Congress on March 15, 2023, in celebration of the National Women’s Month. The event aimed to promote maternal health and educate pregnant women about important topics related to pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care.
Volunteer doctors from the Zamboanga City Medical Center and the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecologist Society attended the event and provided free pre-natal checkups, HPV-DNA testing, and HIV/SYPHILIS tests to the 186 pregnant women participants. The Ministry also distributed 133 sleeping kits to them.
The Buntis Congress featured talks on cervical cancer and the importance of family planning, with Dr. Jehada Misuari Aliuddin and Municipal Health Officer Dr. Rowel Quiogue providing insight into these topics. Aside from emphasizing the importance of maternal health, the event also provided a platform for the pregnant women to access much-needed health services.
