PARANG, MAGUINDANAO โ MSSD Minister Atty. Raissa H. Jajurie led the groundbreaking ceremony for a two-storey children and youth development center building in Barangay Magsaysay earlier today.
This is the Ministry’s first Bahay Pag-asa to be constructed in the region, aside from those under the Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF).
The building will soon serve as a temporary shelter or Bahay Pag-asa, wherein the children in conflict with the law (CICL) will stay while their cases are still being held in respective courts. The facility, which is expected to be completed by March 2023, can house up to 50 CICL and children at risk (CAR).
According to Engr. Myron D. Kamensa, the Ministry extends its gratitude to Mohammad Abujihad A. Sema, who donated the 2,000 square meter-land in the area.
Minister Jajurie, in her message, thanked the representatives of Regional Juvenile Justice Welfare Committee (RJJWC) and the local government unit of Parang for their support in the reformation of CICL and welfare of CAR. She also gave a rationale behind Bahay Pag-asa facility to reiterate its importance in empowering the youth sector.
During their stay, the children are given opportunities such as alternative learning education, skills training, leisure activities, medical and dental check-ups, and family visits among others, which can help them recover from the circumstances they are facing.
Also present during the ceremony were Municipal Administrator Usman R. Ibay III, PNP representative PCPT Judith Ambung, PDEA representative Marlon Santos, BJMP-BARMM representative Tong Gogo, BYC Commissioner Nas Dunding, BHRC representative Edna Pandi, and Curve-Line Construction representative Engr. Nasrodin Bansuan. They participated in burying the time capsule, which marked the commencement of the project.
